Pretty Plain

Some prototypes, waiting to be embellished, decorated, and generally frou-frou'd up: storage baskets that stand up on their own, thanks to pockets that hold pieces of cardboard; reversible, adjustable headbands; and a mini portfolio case.

It's sort of a scale model of one that will be big enough to hold a sketchbook. I'm hopeless with sketchbooks, preferring loose bits of paper, so this is a compromise that keeps all those bits in one place.

I'm so pleased with the fastener!

Cardboard in the pockets for stiffness, a flexible spine so it'll hold spiralbound books, and a pocket for really tiny scraps of paper.

If anyone's interested in seeing patterns for these, let me know and I'll put up a few tutorials next week. That'll remind me how I made them, too, because at the moment all the instructions are on scraps of paper.

I love the idea of a book cover that can hold a notebook AND all the little scraps! Yes, a tutorial would be great!

Oh i LOVE these, esp. the itty-bitty paper holder... I also have all my creative ideas penciled on pieces of paper all over the place. Maybe it's a sign of creative genius, but it drives me nuts!

Wow Jesse!
I'd love to see the instructions for these.
I really need to make up some storage boxes soon as I'm going slightly nuts.
I have a sketchbook filled with ideas, but I've never ever gotten around to them.

the headbands look very interesting! nice idea.

I thought I left a comment the other day, but it didn't show up! I think the hearts made a great little under shirt and they'd be cute on the bloomers to match. :-)

I'd like to know how to make the sketch book holder, then I might not have to look through all of mine to see which one I'm up to!

It makes me so happy that i am not alone in the organization thing. I have an order for some knitting bags- I don't remember the details, lost the paper, so have to ring-up the customer and get her to give me the low-down. So glad it is a friend.

I would love to see a tutorial. I have never made a book cover and have actually been thinking of making a standard cover for my reading books.
