Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I'm tickled that the
sullen doll seems to be the popular one - clearly I was hanging around with the wrong people when I was a kid. Imagine, we could all have been a sullen gang together! And taken over the world! Perhaps it's not too late....
I spent the weekend knitting (s0 it was good). Lots of different textures and yarns; this is a peek, I'll be able to show more soon. I realised why so many people knit with wool, and so few with string. I also learned that there's more to choosing the right needle size than just the thickness of the yarn: pliability is quite a factor.
A belated Happy Birthday! Lovely paper doll. A special way to mark the occasion! I am trying to come to terms with the fact that I am on the brink of leaving my 40s! That's old!
ReplyDeletethe knitting looks great so far. and it is amazing how the needle size affects the finished product.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday! I love the knitting textures, especially the white. What yarn is it? Is that angora in there? Love your paper doll dress pattern too! The exploded view is great (I'm still in aw and trying to wrap my mind around how one can figure such "quasi 3-d" things out!)
ReplyDeleteI admire your work!
I think it does have angora in it - it's very soft. It's yarn someone gave me ages ago, with no ball band, so I can't say for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt's becoming quite an obsession, seeing how different the same stitch pattern can look in different yarns and at different gauges.
The paper doll dress... took a lot of folding and unfolding ;)
Happy Birthday! I have just had to come to terms with turning 50 so 40 sounds a great age to me. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI knit more with thin pima cotton yarn and find the results are wonderful. I think it has to do more with the quality of the yarn you use to have good results and nice finish and texture.
ReplyDeleteDo you use mohair that is produced in SA? I use more baby alpaca and blends from Peru and it is also great, especially if knitted with bamboo needles.
happy knitting!!!
i enjoyed your knitting humour!
ReplyDeletethe colours look lovely.
and happy birthday, too.
Happy birthday! I miss knitting so badly... Looks like you're using some pretty great yarn!
