I'm the boss of this party!

My niece had her 5th birthday party this weekend - a kitty party, of course! She drew the 'recipe' for the cake weeks ago, and we recreated it under her exacting supervision.

She designed the invitation: "And there must be a map, with a kitty where the party is, and it must say 'when you get to the kitty you can park and if you need help look at the map' and it must say that it's a kitty party."
We used one of her drawings of a kitty for the front (she's developed a 'cat technique' for drawing them!) and she coloured each one.

And then the party packs:

All 20 drawn and coloured by her, with a personalised kitty for each guest. You can see how having a 'cat technique' could be useful....

I may be reading too much into this, but I think we have a future DIY enthusiast on our hands.

  1. Such a delight! Definitely looks like she'll be following in her aunt's footsteps!

  2. I think that's amazing because those party bags look like Quentin Blake drawings and with the cat in profile on the cake she's seen that a cat's face is foreshortened and she's got the vertical pupils correct as well. So exciting to see future talent so early.

Oh how funny, we just went to another cat loving five year olds party this weekend! She and her Mum made origami cat faces for all the favour bags. Must have been something in the air : )
