My junk shopping skills aren't limited to haberdashery items, oh no. I'm also the proud finder of strange and rare musical instruments.
(Ok, I'll admit that I noticed this one because it looked like a tiny coffin, but when I lifted the lid to find a keyboard, I figured that was probably better than expected, and definitely more likely to find approval at home.)
It took two years' worth of weekends to restore. You can read all about the process
here (there are six posts in total) and listen to it being played
here.
It's a fascinating instrument; instead of strings, it has tuning forks. It doesn't sound like anything else I've heard.
How curious! It sounds really interesting!
