Things my mother made: part 2

This is a shirt my sister and I have to take turns wearing, because my mother only made one. It's about 40 years old, made on a machine that could only do straight stitching, and painted with Virginia O'Grady fabric paint. (I can't even find a link for that; no idea if the product even exists anymore. The paint is in tiny metal tubes, and you paint directly onto the fabric with the tube, squeezing the paint out as you go. It creates a slightly raised effect, and, sadly, is starting to flake a bit.)

I love this shirt! I really like the idea and it's making me want to try it out myself.

Oh lovely! This is exactly why I've always wanted a sister. My brothers always had so much cooler clothes because they could share. Then I taught myself to sew and didn't realize before it was too late, that I was then saying goodbye to mom made clothes.

I think we had those textile colors in the 80's here in Finland, but I haven't seen them since. We have some other brands, but they're much shinier and peel off easily.

I really really like your blog, so I'm happy that you came by and commented on my brooches :)

How special to have such a current, yet sentimental piece of vintage clothing.

My aunt used those paints to paint on glass in the early eighties. I had orange and black, so decorated a pillowcase to use for treats on Halloween! My aunt put foil behind the glass and my uncle made the frames. I still have a piece she gave me as a gift. Cool.
