Coffee Cup

Another working drawing for a linocut (really have to start printing these!) I think the leaf needs to move a bit to the right, but I only noticed that after I'd inked. I'll fix it on the lino block.

The cup seems to lean, too. It can't be, because I measured. With a ruler. I'd better do something to the steam, to counterbalance what can only be an optical illusion - because I measured.

Hmm..maybe it's the leaf that adds weight to the left side that makes it look like it's leaning? I'll have to try using a ruler sometime; I usually just sketch and erase until things look right:)

i believe you! i think it's the leaf, and then the furthest left steam line? maybe it needs to go a bit left?

but honestly, i didn't notice until you mentioned it, so really, does it need to be fixed? i think it's a wonderful illustration.

I think it looks good just as is.

the leaf side of the cup looks very slightly more rounded to me than the other side - maybe the curves aren't totally symmetrical?

I'm looking forward to seeing these printed up :)

I like the leaf where it is. it gives some balance. And I don't think the cup seems to lean at all. In my opinion I would leave it. It's wonderful as it is. :)

the cup looks fine to me. perhaps because I don't have an 'illustrators eye'. It's lovely infact.

It's just lovely, Jesse, and I would never have noticed any flaws if you hadn't pointed them out. In fact, I still can't! You're too clever for words :)
