Swatch Swap
Here's my idea: I'm going to make a quilt, of simple squares, and I'd like it to be as colourful and varied as possible. So how about a swap? I'll send you a 20cm* square of one of my prints, and you send me one of yours. Medium-weight fabric, not too thick and not too thin, with a handprinted design. Small enough to stick in an ordinary envelope.
Just leave a comment, and I'll contact you for a postal address. (Make sure I can find your email address somewhere on your website or blog!) And if you don't already print fabric, why not have a go? Potato prints, lino cuts, silkscreening, stencilling....
And then join in - go through the comments left here, and contact each person to arrange a swap with them. What do you think?

Ohh what a great idea! I wish I was even just a teeny bit good at fabric stuff!!
Neato! I've been printmaking for years (see www.graciesparkles.com) but just recently started messing around with fabric.

Yay! This is going to be fun!
Oh, and if your email is on your blog or website, don't worry about leaving your address here - I'll track it down. I love finding new blogs.
*coming out of lurking as well* this sounds great! Maybe harder to organize, but wouldn't it be fab if everyone swapped their fabric with multiple people? Either way I could use an excuse to do a little more printing again ;)

cool, I've never done a swap. Count me in! Just let me know which design/colour you'd like.
Hi Jesse! I've never done a swap OR printed on fabric, (although I have done a fair amount of batik) but i'm betting that at the very least i can draw...
If that doesn't work I will bust out the potatoes!!
count me in!! i'm going to have to learn to make a quilt now!
OK - I also want in!!! ; ) Will do my best making something cool - maybe with some bunnies! ; )
I'll be happy to join you!!!
Oh I love this idea and this might be a good excuse for me to give printing a try!! (i've also never done a swap, it sounds fun) If a newbie (who doesn't actually have the materials needed yet) can join in, I'm in:

I would love to!
Oh! I love it. I can't wait to see your finished quilt. If anyone else wants to trade with me (full disclosure: I am a newbie printer), please send me an email at info@sewbettie.com.
Can I participate by swaping pieces of handprinted fabric not printed by me? I buy from local designer/printers and have a great collection.
Cool, count me in I've just been making come with lino cuts.

I'd love to join. I've never done a swap before. How does it work? When does everyone have to have their fabrics ready?
Oh should I, shouldn't I. Hmmmm. Considering I dropped out of one last summer. What the hey. knitsonya at gmail dot com. Count me in (I guess).

Hey Jesse, Count me in too. I've thought about it overnight and I am keen to give it a try. I have never printed anything before - but I have some ideas! What fun.

at comment number 29, I may be too late... but I'd love to if you still need more squares. What a great idea. You'll have such a lovely eclectic quilt.
I'm in if you still have room! Can't wait to see all that you collect!

Yes, please!

Darn! I haven't started printing on fabric yet. Hopefully there will be a next time!
Hi, I would love to participate, but I have one question. Do the prints have to be your own design? I have some left over prints from patapri that I used for making a baby quilt. I would love to swap for some other handprinted squares. Let me know if this would work!
I'd love to join in - but I don't have a blog or website!

Wow! Thanks, everyone.
I'm afraid your own designs is what this is about - sorry to sound like a schoolmarm. And you can still join if you don't have a blog or website; so long as you have an email address you can be contacted at, that's fine!
Im an ex Kaapie living in New Zealand! Would love to join in. Shall we wait to hear from you or make our own hook ups? (have cut a few lino's this last month - but have not tried fabric prints yet - still playing)
www.soheartfelt.wordpress.com
I love the idea!
It's just what I need to get me motivated. I'm in New Zealand and am keen to swap with anyone from anywhere. I'll see what I come up with and report next week on The Sunday Project - that's the blog I've just started. Wish me luck!
Oh oh oh this sounds fun! I haven't printed much over the past two years since finishing my BFA but I could certainly use a kick in thee pants to give it a spin now. xoxoxox erin.ruscio@gmail.com!!!
Hi, i just recently started selling some of my designs as printed fabrics in my etsy shop, i would love to join in. Great idea!Dana
I want to participate, but I don't have any hand printed fabrics made at this exact moment. I can do it though, especially for this! Please contact me and I'll let you know how quickly I can send it. This is going to be wonderful.
