Shop update

I've added some new prints of pages from my comic to my jezzeprints Etsy shop. All are limited editions of 20 prints. The format has changed a little: the new prints are smaller than the original A4 drawings, to allow space for framing and editioning.

Painted Fish Studio

I think this journal, made by Painted Fish Studio, and embellished with some of my printed tape, is so beautiful... You can find it in her Etsy shop.

A girl's gotta do....

I have deadlines stacked up and falling over each other, but I still found time to go shoe shopping... coming home with two new pairs (yes, that's one of each in the photo).

I'm very behind on emails and comments, and if I owe you one, I'm sorry, I promise I'll catch up soon. Now I'm getting back to work. I'm not going to think about how empty my life is if all I have to blog about is new shoes, or that taking photos of them is really just procrastination.

A quiet cup of tea...

New print, new teacup. The cloth is slightly greenish in the right light.

Leaves

If, as they say, facing a challenge makes you grow, I must be about 2 inches taller. The challenge: purple random dye-effects. I don't like purple, can't stand tie-dye (never even liked The Doors, go figure) but this piece of cloth was lying around and I needed to test a new block and some ink. I think the cloth sort of works, but I couldn't find a teacup that would.

Ah, that's better... Green ticking over-printed with a jasmine leaf block.

The new ink, for the record, is silk-screen ink. It's thicker and stickier than fabric paint, and doesn't seem to be eating the blocks just yet.

War Baby Bonnet

It'll fit for a few years.... Pattern can be found here. I used DK wool, about 1 1/2 balls.

Even more vintage oddness

Not enough people are amused at being served coffee in a cup branded by a pharmaceutical company. I think it's hilarious; thank you again, Continental China!

post without a picture

The intention was to show some more odd promotional vintage teacups, but I forgot I'd have to unpack my kitchen today for The Builders.... so head on over to Skinny laMinx instead to see what we did on Saturday.

More vintage stuff

This is currently my favourite teacup. Besides the classic Continental China shape and colour, I love the idea that someone simply slapped some totally unsuitable clip art on and called it a promotional product. (Ooh, too much alliteration...)

And it's a great drawing of a battery!

Behave yourself, or else....

Craft meeting this Saturday afternoon from 2:30 downstairs at The Book Lounge, corner of Buitenkant and Roeland Streets, Central Cape Town. Knitting, sewing, coffee, tea, and hopefully some moments of unforeseen abandon.

Flowers!

Feeling a bit hemmed in by builders, who are here for a week dampproofing....

... so here are some gratuitous pictures of flowers someone gave me.

A last little taste of summer, because autumn seems to have arrived this week.

Now off the clean up the dust. Even the dog is sneezing!

That's what I meant!

This is what I wanted the stencil to look like! This time it's a block print, and I've taken the design backwards a bit, more towards the original rubber stamp I made. The way a stencil is cut is so different to the way a lino block is cut, it seemed to make sense to take the marks into consideration.

A miscalculation somewhere means that repeating the wedge all the way round doesn't result in the tight circle I planned, but some overprinting helped. Another block is needed to fill in the gaps.

And here's another pic, just in red, because it's so pretty!

Sale

Drawing by Alfalfa, My East, pencil on paper

Just a quick heads-up if you're in Cape Town on Saturday: Alfalfa Clothing is having a big sale at the Alfalfa studio at 8 Lytton St in Observatory, from 9:30 till 2:30. Alfalfa is no longer available in shops, and everything must go, so this is your last chance to buy splendid clothes.

Gorgeous teatowels and cushions from another South African Etsy seller, Dizzydezign. (I found her shop through the Etsy Geolocator - type in any place name and see who's selling there.)
