Dark Chocolate

After cutting out the embroidered bits from old doilies and tea cloths, I'm left with scraps of very beautiful linen and cotton that are too good to throw away. So now I'm thinking of ways to use them; these are my first attempts at ornaments for that tree at the end of the year. Very much making it up as I go along, unpicking, rethinking.... Who knew that sewing curves could be so tricky? Or that vintage lace could misbehave? I want to use the bits of lace so badly, though.

They look great! I feel the same way about scarps of fabric.

yum! I feel the same way about scraps, so hard to let them go. One trick for smooth curves is to trim the excess seam allowance (after you've sewn it) with pinking shears. It works really well for little things were regular clipping just won't do it. Good luck!

These are cute! I don't think I will make more ornaments this year as I went crazy last year. I spent almost a month making door hangings and other Xmas decorations. This year I will concentrate on making presents for as many people as I can.
Sewing corners are VERY tricky! I can tell you about the first time I sewed oven gloves. Sewing the corner between the thumb and other fingers was a pain. I had to re-do this 3 times before I was happy! I could not believe that such a simple task was getting the better of me!
