Giving away chocolate!

No, really, I am. To cut to the chase, scroll down to the bottom of this post.

I've been fiddling around with scraps of old linen and lace, improving, I think, on the last batch of ornaments.

I like them. And I don't. They're still not the neat symmetrical things I imagined, but they are puffy and pretty and frilly. And there are so many options. Lace or no lace? Coloured border or not? Printed background or plain? Different colour printed background or not?

So here's the deal: please tell me what you like or don't like about them, and I'll pick a commenter at random next Wednesday (the 18th) and send you the whole bunch.

(I realise it makes no sense to comment if you don't want ornaments, but you could always unpick them and sew patches over the holes in your jeans. Or something. They're really good scraps of linen!)

I really like the one with the lace and same-colored thread! The style of that one seems to capture the essence of the decadent and old-fashioned-ness of the dessert itself. Yum!!! Glad you printed them in choc brown, too!

I think the ones that work best are 3, 4, & 5 on the bottom photo in the bottom row. They have a good amount of space around the bonbon itself (not too close to edges) and I like the edging treatments.

I love the round ornaments best. I think they look pretty and delicious, really chocolate-like. I wonder what they´d look like if they were printed white on chocolate-fabric?

I think the round ornaments are more indicative of chrsitmas....and I like the ones that have the chocolate print with the same color lace print aroud it. Have you thought of adding a little embroidery? Perhaps little colorful decorations on the chocolates?
They would all look fabulous on my tree however....

I like the lace because it looks like the chocolate is sitting in a fancy box with a doily. The round ones look nicest to me -- I like things tidy and symmetrical -- and I like the plain background. I think you need space around the image so it's easy to "read." My favorite is the one that shows up in all the pictures: it's third from the left in the bottom image.

They are making me very hungry!

I love them.
I like the round chocolate print better this way than the square(ish) chocolate print. I really love the contrast stitching, maybe the lace could be tea/coffee dyed for contrast? And perhaps a thinner dark string for hanging?
These suggestions would be to add variety to those above not instead of them because I do think they are fabulous. Perhaps you could find something chocolate scented for inside (tea?) and also use them as sachets?
Love all your work.

I like the ornaments that have more fabric around the print. It gives my eyes something to rest on. I prefer the look of the ones with less stuffing. Hard to tell on a screen though. I really like the natural background. The trims are a nice touch. I really love all of your work.

Again, I'm stunned. They're awesome. I have friend who would love them, except I would remove the lace...she's not a 'lacy' kinda girl.

I like them all.. I liked the when you first posted about them.. The ones i like the best are the ones with a bit of border around them and the ones on the lacy back ground. Somehow they remind me of candies my grandmother had at Christmas, but hers were all different pastel.. Pink and yellow and pale green. What I like the least are the hanger cords, they seem a bit heavy to me. A bit of white pearl cotton would look nice, I think.

My favorite is the 3rd on the bottom row, bottom photo. I like the contrast of the dark thread. I'm not sure how I feel about the doily overprint, I'd have to see the same thing without the doily print. Right now I feel it mucks up the print, but it could be that it would look too plain with out it. I think the stuffing is too much, you could try just a layer of flat quilt batting and add decorative quilting patterns, yarn ties, embroidery etc. Also, what if you tried the prints of center, I could see the doily print off to one side kind of like a postage cancel stamp. if you use the batting you would have an easier time keeping to the shape of the chocolates, if that's what you are going for.

i agree- you don't seem like a frilly lacy kind of girl- but hey- why no just go completely OTT with them & create an off the wall xmas tree with these plus sweets, cupcakes & loads of cheezi tinsel-not o mention fairy lights- it could work i tell you!
loving your work

I think they are a natural for Valentine's Day. Chocolate, lace, doilies - you just need some hearts. Maybe they could be heart shaped. Or sewn onto hearts. Or print hearts on the ribbon. I would experiment with dying them red or hot pink. Oh, I scrolled down and see that you did them on hot pink. They look great! Maybe Valentine's Day is not a big deal in south Africa but it is here in the US. Biggest selling holiday for cards. And people (especially the guys) are always at a loss as to what to get for a small gift. Pin cushions? Sachets? I think you've got a big seller there!

i loove them.. theyre just so adorable! I really like it with the lace, maybe you could try experimenting using colorful laces, such as hot pink, black, yellow etc. And here's an idea, you could perfume it so that it's like an air freshner, and hang them pretty things on door handles etc.
serisouly hope i win!

They're all lovely little stunners, and I can just imagine them all hanging on our Christmas tree this year. If I had to choose, I think I prefer them without the lace trim.

I think they are all adorable, but as I am a no-lace girl, I probably prefer the plain ones so that the focus is all on the chocolate.

Ohhh, chocolate, that's always a good thing, esp. dark!

The ornaments I like the most are the ones without the lace.
I love lace, but the print comes out better without in my opinion!

Have fun reading all the comments!

I think they are so cute. I prefer them just with lace, to hang, without back print.
Lovely for parties

These are delightful! I like them with the lace and without. A mixture of the 2 finishes is really good. A cute idea!

Super cute!

I like the one with the lacy edge and in the very bottom photo the third one in from the left. I like that one because the seam (in contrasting color) is close to the art ... no margin.

I love all your work, it's inspirational.
