Fabric sample books are great for small projects, and if you can find one with plastic-coated fabric, so much the better. This could be the quickest sewing project ever: oilcloth doesn't need hemming.
The swatches from the book were already all the same size, with pinked edges. I cut out squares from each rectangle, more or less like this...
... and sewed up the seams and the corners like this:
Done in about 15 minutes!
(Use a thick needle, like a denim needle, and set a long stitch length.)

Oh, I didn't know you don't have to hem! I made outdoor window covers with laminated cotton and hemmed - oh well! One thing I learned from that is that if you have to sew with the plastic side towards your presser foot, it helps to put a small piece of masking tape on the bottom of your presser foot so the plastic will glide through- otherwise, it sticks. those are nice patterns - love the black outlined pears!

Nice project! I also love sample books - but I must say, you have a pretty nice one there! The ones I get usually contain pretty dreary fabrics - beiges and pastels, etc. I use them to practise embroidery stitches ...

Very creative and neat baskets ! I love the idea. Just my two cents : I would not cut the corners, just sew the bottom seam and then fold the corners and sew them. It adds rigidity to the whole. I hope you can understand what I wrote... :-)
Do you know where I can find nice oil cloth. I can only find mooi kitchen table type stuff.
