Strange Neighbours
My friend Masha recently wrote, illustrated, and published a book of short stories, and I've been sneaking away from my work to snatch a few pages whenever I could. These are the kind of stories that made me love reading in the first place. I highly recommend that you buy a copy, and prepare to stay awake till you've finished. If you don't have one of those fancy e-readers, you might have to print it out to carry around, to read while you're eating - it's that kind of book.
"Meet a hitch hiking troll with a taste for pepper-spray and a homeless witch with a trolley full of secrets. Discover a book hoarding mermaid and a fridge full of frogs. And learn how to greet a witch – politely, of course. These stories describe encounters with every-day magic, where strange neighbours live in the flat next door or under the manhole cover you step on every day."
Read more about how to buy it here. There are a couple of options, depending on where you live and what format you'd like.
Did I say that it's completely brilliant?
