The big news of the day is that we can now receive money via Paypal in South Africa! This should make life a bit easier for South African Etsy sellers and our customers.
We're not all Paypal-enabled yet, because bank accounts have to be opened and settings changed, but it shouldn't take too long. In the meantime, have a look at some of the things South Africans are selling on Etsy! Use the 'Shop Local' feature to search for shops, or the South Africa Etsy Team list.
(Read more about exactly what selling via Paypal from SA entails here.)

That is fantastic. It certainly makes the world a smaller place when we are able to order such gorgeous pieces as you featured from South Africa.

Hey guys, just want to introduce you to www.market-fleas.com. It's not quite etsy, but it gives you a platform to sell locally as well. We're only a couple of months old and obviously not where we wnat to be but feedback is welcome. It's free to join so please support a local venture.
Hi, I am in the process of setting up a Etsy -type site for South Africa. If you are interested in selling on this site or for more information, please contact me on gabigarb@gmail.com. Thanks, Gabi
