(Blush)

Not the best photo, but I certainly wasn't about to model these! Just believe me when I say that they look better on.

Made using this free pattern, and some cotton that I've had lying around for about five years. They're really easy to make, even if you need to stop to learn how to make buttonholes properly.* The fit is great, although these are about half an inch lower in the waist than they should be. (I can't estimate inches accurately. Measuring using your thumb as a guide doesn't work well, despite "inches" being "duime" or "thumbs" in Afrikaans. Getting up to use a calculator or find my special tape measure, the only thing in the house that actually has inches on it, didn't occur to me.)

My mom had a pair like this that she'd made in the fifties, and we had them in our stash of Strange Clothes from Olden Times** for years. Somewhere along the line they disappeared, before I had a chance to copy the pattern. But now I'm seeing silk and lace and ribbons....

*Stitching a scrap of fabric behind the buttonhole - crucial.
**What do you mean, your family doesn't have a stash like that?

Ooh, they are cute. I like the idea of using a bright coloured fabric. Ok, you've convinced me, I'm going to give it a go (even if it is just to see the look on Hubby's face!) Lol! But seriously, I can imagine using silk and maybe adding a small section at the back with ribbon like a 'corsage' effect, if that makes sense.

Gorgeous knickers. I'd love to sleep in knickers like these. I see your future, and it's dressed in old fashioned lingerie...

Oh, man, these panties are really sweet! What about making a kind of "bodice" or camisole to wear with it? (I remember as a little girl my mom and grandma used the term "bust bodice" - this was before "bras". I was just thankful that when I became a teenager I could wear a bra and not a bust bodice!)

Jesse, these are fabulous! I love the colour and the little bows. Awesome work. On the strange clothes front, you're not alone there :)

Wow, Jesse, these pants are cool! Almost like frilly hotpants! I think it is a pre-requisite to model clothing you make in blogland! We don't have a stash of strange clothes, but we certainly often laugh at old photos! "Did I REALLY wear that in public?!" comes up quite often.

I think a little tatted edge might be in order!

I must be the only one saying"What is this? When would you wear this? and Say What?" Is this for night? Underwear? To wear to the beach? They ARE cute, but being 60 years old limits my imagination, I guess.. And my family hid the olden clothes so the children would never know!!

Old strange clothes are the best :)
And these are really cute. I would even wear them outside in summer, if I had the body for such things :)
But why button holes, I don't see any or buttons.

Oh, by the way, I have a tape measure with inches on one and centimeters on the other side, and I love that thing!
