Sketching

Sketchbooks aren't really my thing. I can fill countless loose sheets of paper with scribbles when I'm working out ideas, but books paralyze me. Perhaps it's the memory of the weekly sketchbook scrutiny at art school - could they tell I'd done all these drawings the night before? (Of course they could.)

Of course I know it's important to draw, even (or especially) when I don't have illustration jobs to do.

So I'm really pleased that I've found someone to sketch with. Once a week, no getting out of it, and we take the chance to hang out in all the cool coffee shops.

From top to bottom: Yours Truly, Haas, the Company Gardens (good weather) and Birds Cafe.

At this rate, I might even fill a sketchbook!

That's great! I wish I had someone to sketch with, maybe we could share ideas when can't remember anything new to draw... Those sketches are beautiful!

That's great Jesse. A sketch buddy is truly worth their weight in gold. Sadly I think I'd make a terrible sketch buddy, I would end up chatting and laughing and goodness is that the time… I'd get home with an empty sketchbook. :-) x

Gorgeous sketches and nothing like a bit of motivation to get your sketch-flow! Thanks for sharing!

These are so lovely, Jesse. I think too many creative people have forgotten how beautiful a pencil sketch can be. Do you ever sell sketches? I've been looking for a good one of aloes for a while, but haven't found the right one yet! The plant up above comes close though...

Thank you! I'm afraid these sketches are on horrible cheap paper, nothing I can sell. I find expensive sketchbooks far too intimidating!
