Local is so lekker!
Some of my ceramics in the latest issue of Fair Lady magazine, described as 'elegant and a little nostalgic' - very flattering, and exactly how I'd have hoped to describe them myself, were I any good with words. Fair Lady also has a website with, among other things, a food section with yummy recipes; in the midst of these, a lovely post about my book. Thank you!
Another local site, 2econdworld, recently posted a great round up of local crafters who sell on Etsy. It's great to find a local green blog, too.
And via Babazeka I found Life Less Plastic, which, while not local, is a great resource for anyone trying to cut down on plastic junk... I'd never thought, for instance, of taking my own produce bags to the supermarket, so that I don't have to use those flimsy plastic packets to buy loose vegetables. I found a link on there to a great article about how and why not to use shampoo (it's been about 2 months or more since I used shampoo, and I don't think I'll ever go back to it again).

Yeah! Fantastic, and what an apt description of your beautiful things! Have a great weekend.
Congrats with that article.
So I suppose that the 'old' people were right about the 100 strokes of brushing their hair everyday.
Thanks for so many great links.
I've been reading a lot about the no shampoo thing and I'm tempted but haven't tried it yet.
I love love the site about not using plastic, it's on my mind as well. I live in Chicago and I hadn't found this site, so thanks for posting.
And your ceramics are beautiful just beautiful, I'm glad you're getting so many nice write ups.
It's always nice to get a mention somewhere. Great!
Thanks for linking to my blog. If you're interested in produce bags, I'm actually running a giveaway on my blog right now. Take a look!
Oh, and I love your work. It's beautiful.
Congrats on the fantastic write up! That's really exciting :)
so - with the no-poo - did you go cold turkey, or step by step?
A bit more detail please!
Hey Jezze,
Just wanted to pop in and say hi, I love your work.
I actually found you through Etsy, I thought I was the only South African who knew about Etsy, everyone I speak to here, kinda gives me this blank look. I was even thinking of starting up a SA version, and then I saw that South Africans are actually using it. And thats when I found your shop, and then realised that I saw your stuff in the Fair Lady today. Anyway, thats enough from me, just realy excited that I found south africans on Etsy!
Regards,
Hayley
Jesse, your ceramics are beautiful! I found the no 'poo article fascinating. (Thanks for the link). I have very fine hair and absolutely HAVE to shampoo every day - I realise it is a bit of a vicious cycle though! I'm tempted to give this a try - escpecially since I'm working from home ... but I'm definitely NOT going cold turkey!
About the no shampoo: I haven't gone cold turkey, but started washing with a tblsp of bicarb dissolved in a cup of water, and rinsing with a little apple cider vinegar in water. The washings have become less frequent, though, and quite often now I just use plain water. Didn't have an 'adjustment period' that I noticed.
Congratulations to you! So well deserved.
Spotted this in the recent issue, well done!
